About Me

I'm Nick Gray – a DevOps engineer, systems architect, builder of reliable infrastructure, and enthusiast of weird side projects.

I specialize in deploying scalable systems, automating everything, and enabling engineers to ship confidently. Whether it's Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, or Postgres at scale — I'm in my element.

I lead infrastructure at PrizePicks, and I’m always tinkering with personal projects, home labs, or painting landscape art when I need a digital detox.

What I Believe

Reliability Wins

Systems should be boring, predictable, and survive failure with grace.

Infra Empowers Devs

The best infrastructure disappears behind empowered engineers.

Simplicity Scales

Simple, understandable systems scale better than clever ones.

Learn in Public

Sharing what you learn builds community and accelerates growth.

My Journey

2023 – Present

Lead Principal DevOps Engineer at PrizePicks — driving infrastructure strategy, automating at scale, and expanding across multiverses (yes, literally).

2022 – Present

Welcomed our third child — officially leveling up in Dad mode. Chaos unlocked. Joy magnified.

2017 – Present

Our second kid arrived and life got a little louder — and a whole lot better. Parenting, now with real-time scaling.

2017 – 2023

Cut my teeth on production infrastructure at Pindrop — CI/CD pipelines, HA clusters, observability, and a deep dive into “how real systems break.”

2014 – Present

Became a father for the first time. It remains the most humbling and rewarding role I’ve ever taken on.

2012 – Present

Married my best friend and started the lifelong role of husband. Still my most successful long-running deployment.

2005 – 2017

Dove into Linux, broke (and fixed) countless servers, and landed my first real gig at CyberWurx — a web hosting company where I started mastering the stack.
